Illuminating Fire

For You will light my lamp; The Lord my God will enlighten my darkness. (Psalms 18:28 NKJV)

Have you ever been in a dark room and knew that there was a light switch somewhere near the door but could not see or feel to find it? You grope around until with relief you flip the switch, the power is free to flow and the lights turn on! You can see! Over the years I can think of several movies where person is in a dark room and finds a match which they light only to regret what it illuminates.

Far to often we live in dark, separated from power of God's leading by our own choosing. When it finally dawns on us to turn on the lights by opening the word and allowing His word to illuminate our darkness we do not like what we see...Look at the mess we have arranged for ourselves.

But the comfort of His illumination is that it speaks to the mess we may find and reminds us that He is there to see us through it no matter how hopeless it may seem. As we trust in Him enough to allow His word to be open in our lives we will find that it is "oil in the lamp." He brings His word and the powerful presence of the Holy Ghost to consume us, yes! But in consuming our lives in His purpose we can see life as we ought to.

It is His Word that burns in us. The love He convey's through it marks us like only fire can. It is it's fire that illuminates direction and provides confidence and even comfort that where I place my feet is where God is leading. So long as I keep His Word stoked within me, the word will burn fresh and new in me...empowering me to be victorious over the enemy and sure footed in the battle.
